About Me

Welcome to Travelling The World Solo!

My name is Elle and I am a 30-something Australian born registered midwife in the midst of a never-ending love affair with solo world travel. With a passion for exploring the planet and bringing new lives into the world, I spend half my life catching babies and the other half globe trotting.

I was born and raised in Adelaide, South Australia but currently call the crocodile infested, mango abundant and deliriously tropical city of Darwin in the Northern Territory my home.

I started travelling independently at the age of 19 and in just 6 short years I have travelled across over 60 countries and all seven continents, but the more I see, the more I crave!

The things in the world that I love most include whales, safaris, the Arctic, snow, scuba diving, bungee jumping, street food, guacamole, when my backpack comes out first on the baggage carousel, not getting sunburnt and travelling independently.

  3. I absolutely love what you’re doing. I’m addicted to travel myself and am trying to make it my goal to be that person who everyone asks “how do you travel so much???”. I look forward to following your blog. I’ve followed before and now that I’m back on WordPress with a new blog which will include my travels as well I’m looking to make sure I follow all my fellow travel bloggers. 4. I hardly ever find anyone with the same name as me, let alone someone who has the foresight to shout out how long it will take to read a blog post before one even reads it. Bravo. <3 Ellen xxx

  6. I just want to say that after reading a couple of your entries, I simply adore your blog. I love what you do and I wish I am as brave as you. I have never travelled alone. But I hope that with your suggestions, I will get to do it one of these days. Take care!

By the way, your photos are lovely, too. Who takes them? πŸ™‚

  9. Absolutely love what you’re doing Ellen. I’m a twenty something Brit so I fully connect with what you’re doing. I’ve only done solo travel myself and just LOVE it. My favourite place was Zambia in Africa. From England it was 24hrs of travelling as I had to make several changes including internal flights, so a real adventure. Living with hippos and crocs and lions is the most magical experience of my life so far! Anyway, really pleased I found your blog and can’t wait to see more. Love, Naomi

  10. Hellooooo Ellen!

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple years now (and, obviously, I enjoy it, hahha) and I was wondering if you have a desire to visit the United States? Or Canada! or Mexico! I know your base is Australia so North America is definitely far, I was just curious if there was a specific reason you haven’t visited the US or if there was a place you’re really dying to go in North America (other than Greenland :))?

There are some excellent cities and natural wonders (that might be demolished soon *weeping*), you should definitely visit!!

Thanks for your time and your blog! Stay safe and sound πŸ™‚
