#7continentsin2017

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2017 and to the beginning of an enormous year for TTWS.

I have been doing lots of planning and researching in preparation for my next project, one which will last the entirety of this year.

#7continentsin2017

Yep, you guessed it! This year I will be setting my feet on each of the seven continents, all within 365 days.

I will start the year by returning to Greenland – which though is considered part of Denmark, is actually on the North American continental plate.

I will then spend a month travelling through Europe before heading to the Middle East – which will make up a big chunk of my Asian travels this year. I will also be returning to Thailand, the Maldives and Indonesia!

In the middle of the year I will be headed to Ethiopia – a country I have been itching to visit for years, and this will ‘tick off’ the African continent.

Though I live in Australia, it seems like a cop out to count the country I live in as successfully ticking off the Australia/Oceania continent, so I will be heading East towards the Pacific Ocean and visiting tropical Tonga to snorkel with humpback whales.

Later in the year I will visit a couple of different South American countries before finishing the year on a cruise to Antarctica.

This year is going to be an absolutely enormous undertaking, but I am so excited to get started!

I cannot wait to share some many more stories, pictures, travel guides and tales of my own mishaps as this year goes on.

So please, stay tuned and get ready to take a tour of every continent on Earth!

Furthermore, I will be documenting this years travels on social media using the hashtag #7continentsin2017 – so please do get involved! Use the hashtag to share pictures, stories or information from your favourite travels. At the end of the year I will share my favourites right here on the blog as a sort of social media roundup. I will also have x5 original prints to give away to the owners of my favourite pictures from the year!

Here are all the places you can follow along and what you can expect from each platform:

Blog: Everything you know and love!
Facebook: Pictures and updates about my travels
Instagram: My absolute favourite pictures (and lots of them)
Pinterest: All of the pins!
Youtube: Little video snippets and possibly even a few VLOGs
Twitter: Unfiltered Ellen at 2am
Snapchat @wwellend: Unfiltered Ellen but in video form!

I hope everyone has a truly amazing 2017.

Happy Travelling!

-Ellen xx

  1. Pour cette nouvelle année, je vous souhaite : 2 fois plus de joie, 0 souci, 1 santé d’enfer, 7 tonnes de bonnes nouvelles !
    Profitez bien….

  2. I AM SO EXCITED FOR YOUR NEW PROJECT! It is going to be so amazing to read about!!! As a travel blogger, I am sure you love quality travel gear as much as I do! I’m currently hosting an awesome Nalgene giveaway, and I am spreading the word to all of my fellow travel bloggers, so that they can enter (with unlimited entries) for their chance to win my favorite travel gear! Here is the link! http://thestudenttraveler.org/nalgene-travel-gear-giveaway/

  3. Sounds awesome. I’m insanely jealous of Antarctica. It’s the only continent I haven’t set foot on and it has become a slight obsession to get there but it’s just so expensive (although I’m fervently squirreling money away to get me there one day). Looking forward to reading about all your adventures.
My big trip for this year is my circuit of Oz trip. Excited to finally be going to NT and WA which I haven’t been to before.

      1. Late August, exact dates not known yet. Going to a conference in Gold Coast then heading north up the coast to Cairns then flying to Darwin then on to Perth then to see my friend in Adelaide on the way home. Got a month but still in the planning stages.

      2. I might be around the place! If you want you can let me know when you’ll be in Darwin and if I am in the city I could show you around!

  4. Quite an ambitious adventure, but you have the enthusiasm and spunk to do it. Here is wishing you a great 2017 adventure. I for one will be following and living vicariously through your blog and photos. Many small adventures for me this year to get ready for my Alaska adventure. It will be 40-45 days traveling from So California to Alaska and back, driving.

  5. Happy new year and happy traveling! Sounds like quite the exciting project you’re undertaking, and can’t wait to hear all about it. If you could, I’d love to see a post on the planning and budgeting process!

    xx

    1. Hmmm, I tell you what, I will try and keep track of how much I spend in each place and maybe try to create a finance report at the end of the year – would something like that be interesting to you?

  6. Sounds unbelievable! Hope you have an incredible time! I’ve just started my blog and have a 7 month trip planned for New Zealand and Australia from June this year! Have started following your blog for tips on where to go and what to do! Safe travels.

      1. We start in Melbourne on 2nd August and will probably rent a campervan for a while and drive round the coast to Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns… We don’t know how far we’ll be able to get yet so will decide that later on, but we will have to work at some point so will continue the journey after earning some extra money! Any tips would be great!

  7. How ambitious! Our current plans don’t include Antarctica.. that sounds like a tough one to check off!

  8. Looking at your plans, I cannot help but feel envious! It has recently become one of my dreams to visit all 7 continents at some point. I see people planning trips to Antarctica, and even though I hate the cold, I still hope to one day fulfill this venture as well.

I’d love to get to know your blog more in the next few weeks. I have gotten to go on several adventures in the last few months while living abroad. I never thought this could be my life! How did you make the decision to uproot and go?

If you’d ever want to exchange links on your blog or collaborate, I’d be totally interested. Check out my blog and let me know. 🙂

    Regards,
    Jared

  9. Hey there! Your plans sound amazing!!! We”ll be following your posts, can’t wait to get to South America! 🙂 we’re goind there ourselves next year!
    Cheers!
